Decluttering

I have a closet crush on Justin Timberlake and Omelets. Jeremy lent me his Bonnie Prince Billy Japanese import cd collection! The title of the page is from Billy's song A King at Night. The entire quote goes:

there is blood on my hands
from the murder of a man
this is how i start another day in my kingdom

But I feared the part I omitted didn't go well with the Justin Timberlike/Omelet/Sunshine Yellow motif so I left it out.

Ever notice how this time of year you will read/hear people saying "My resolution this year is not to make a resolution." And then they will give you some self-righteous reason why their resolution is not to make a resolution, all the while MAKING A RESOLUTION. (Tip to the wannabe true unresolutioners: don't say you aren't making a resolution as a resolution. If you really don't want to make a resolution DON'T TELL ANYONE. It's the indie way).

This year my resolution is to declutter my life. This includes quitting smoking because cigarette lighters, change from buying cigarettes, butts, ash trays and packages are cluttering up my bedroom. The nerve of cigarettes! Not only are they "unhealthy" for you but they are also "cluttering" for you.

I'm hoping I'll actually succeed somewhat with this resolution because I intend to move in with Jeremy, who would have "Clutter Free Zone" signs posted to his house, if they didn't seem somewhat cluttering. Jeremy leads a relatively clutter free life. To those clutter bugs who sympathize with me, that would obviously mean he has room for my clutter. Physically he does but aesthetically no. I don't want to have to deal with arguments like - "Laurie, your clutter is ruining my chance to look at blank walls." It is just not indie rock.

I plan on moving in with him near the end of April. (Already he has questioned my need to have four of my shampoo bottles in his shower. Not to mention the 6 I have in mine). I have 4 months to work on decluttering my apartment from the crap I've accumulated in it for the last 4 years or so. Stay tuned for free-site give-a-ways.

Wish me luck!
